This signed Castlecliff, vintage early 1950's double strand necklace and earring set sparkles like crazy with Swarovski's rare and retired nail head crystals, which were custom made by this company for Castlecliff, with gold on one side and light Colorado topaz on the other.
Sometimes to referred to as "aspirin" crystals or beads, they sparkle so much due to the 17 facets on each side, as well as the 34 facets around the entire outer edge of each bead...that's 68 facets on bead to catch and mirror the light! These rare and retired Swarovski 5100 beads now sell for $1.00 to $2.50 per bead, and the beads alone on this set are worth at least $149.
Sixty (60) crystals graduate from 8mm to 12mm round on the 2-strand necklace. Seven more crystals extend the length of the necklace from near the hook clasp and on the extension chain, for a maximum wearable length of 17.5" inches. Hook clasp is hallmarked "Castlecliff".
The earrings have one 12mm crystal in their centers, surrounded by eight 6mm crystals in a circle. Each round earring measures exactly 1" inch across. Lever back comfort clips are hallmarked "Castlecliff".
All pieces, beads and gold plated parts are in excellent condition with very little to no wear.
