Gorgeous and dimensional. This ring features a prominent oblong green stone centered between ornate Art Nouveau style floral sides. Often referred to as 'Peking Glass', the stone is mottled in colors of green and white. Set in a warm brass metal that shows signs of having a silver gilt finish, detectable, but mostly worn off. Still adding to the overall amazing look of age and patina.
The ring is slightly adjustable, it is a about a size 6. The interior of the band is rounded and smoothly slides on, providing a very comfortable fit. It measures 1 1/8" at the widest. Rises at 1/2" for the extra dimension. The decorative metal sides wrap down around the band and have been secured in place.
Examples of this Bohemian Czech stone can be found on pages 92,93, and 100 of "Baubles, Buttons and Beads- The Heritage of Bohemia". Very enlightening in background history and even information explaining where renowned designers, such as Miriam Haskell, Trifari and Coro acquired their stones and findings for their jewelry.
Excellent vintage condition. Only the above mentioned wear to the gilt finish that does not detract from the beauty of this ring at all.
A very remarkable piece sure to gain many compliments.
