Exquisite early 18/14k gold Horace Welch floating opal pendant. The gold mounting is an ornate fleur-de-lis pattern. The fiery colors of the suspended opals are incredible. This is a large one measuring 1 3/16" long and is 5/8" at the widest.
Markings include 18k on the decorative gold mount and 14k on the bale. 14k, being a stronger metal than 18, would be a wise decision and would not wear as much. Just PAT is marked on the mount, but this pattern was assigned in 1922 to Welch.
Excellent vintage condition. The liquid is clear, no leaks. No cleaning was done so not to disturb that awesome patina.
A spectacular piece for the collector.
