Gorgeous Native American crafted sterling silver necklace with a horse theme pendant attached. The pendant features a dimensional shadow box picture of a mare and her foal. Fabulous details in the landscape and the horses bodies. The darker oxidized background really shows off the 3-d quality of this pendant. The necklace is strung with various sizes of sterling beads on a chain finished off by conical findings with a hook and eye clasp. From the estate of a horse farm in the local Bluegrass area a horse lover as well as a fan of Native American jewelry.
The necklace measures 26 1/2" long, the widest of the beads are 1/2". The pendant, which is also a pin is 2 1/8" x 1 3/4". It is signed HS Sterling, and can possibly be attributed to Henry Sam or Herman Smith. Two fine Navajo artists.
Excellent vintage condition. Ca. 1990's. The pendant has had the bale soldered to the necklace. A jeweler could easily open that up for you. And then the necklace can also be used for some of your other favorite pendants.
