Spectacular vintage Aksel Holmsen Norne sterling silver guilloche enamel cufflinks. A popular design by this Norwegian artist, these double sided cufflinks feature a Viking ship with birds in black enamel and a blue, pink and white background in translucent enamel. The guilloche effect gives them an almost iridescent appearance. Set in gold gilt over sterling silver.
The Norne hallmark is associated with Aksel Holmsen, so you won't see the other (resembles W's overlapped). Also noting that he trained with David Andersen and continued to work for him until 1904. Establishing his own workshop, he became officially licensed in 1906.
Excellent condition. No missing enamel, and being very, very picky- a couple of microscopic scratches. Measures 7/8" x 1/2". Side view, they are 1". Signed Norne Sterling, 925 S and 'N' in a box(registered).
