This gorgeous WEISS brooch is a wonderful example of the "black diamond" rhinestones introduced to us in the late 1950's.
You get two layers of these beautiful smokey gray stones, all prong set with the exception of the stem, which is lined with clear hand set chatons. And what delightful sparkle, as the light reflects off of the many faceted stones. Exceptionally well made, it has thick silver plating, rhodium I suspect, on the back.
Measuring 2" x 1 3/8", this brooch is signed on the back in block letters on an oval cartouche. It is in very, very good condition. I do notice a couple of the stones are just a tad bit cloudy when inspected under a light. Overall, a nice piece of Weiss jewelry, something that should be a part of every collection.
