Early ca. 1930's sterling silver sundial and compass. A rare and unique piece of history that is in working order. The pointer or gnomon is on a hinge and lifts up to use, lays flat when not in use. The compass needle moves freely and is marked Japan on the back. Great Art Deco design, appropriate to the era it was made.
Mentioned "As Is" because it is missing the base and you can see the area on the back where it would have been attached to something. A fantastic timepiece to re-invent in a new surrounding or just to have the way it is. Marked sterling on the back. Measures 1 3/4" in diameter. It is a tad over 1mm thick and weighs 13.83 grams.
A great opportunity for the individual who collects rare and unusual time pieces or someone who wishes to make this treasure into something incredible.
