These circa 1910 set of German postcards are a must for any serious deltiologist. The subject matter is delightful and rare. The play of shadow and light give them a foggy dream like appearance. Which is just perfect for the background of three mischievous little lads. The unusual coloring, and distant landscape imprints are enhanced by the detailing of hand painted versions showing four unique pranks with four different early forms of air transportation. They are all in excellent condition and have been beautifully preserved, without damage ,creases or fading. One of the backs was posted with a 1911 post mark and the other three are blank. Published by by the B. Dondorf company Frankfurt Germany. According to an old traditional German ballad the man in the moon enjoyed drinking, specifically a good claret. A wonderful set of most desirable cards!
