This spell binding first edition was published by ,The Butterick Publishing Co.Limited, London & New York. The company was founded in 1867 by Ebenezer Butterick. It was out of print until 1999 and since then has been recopied by various publishers and sells any where from 25.00 up to 100.00. This original copy is a soft cover but with a brown leather alligator finishing.There are a total of 176 pages with over 350 black and white costume illustrations. In addition it gives the history of Masquerades , Carnivals and Fancy Balls, ideas for many Victorian parties with table and decorating ideas along with floral arrangements. There are costumes for men,women and children. A most unique gift idea for any PR persons,party planners,or designers. This rare copy is bound tight ,without any markings or damage to inner pages,and without foxing.The front cover is missing it's two out side corners as shown in photos. Measures 11" x 8". The only other copies I have been able to locate are in various libraries around the country. Enjoy!
