Bessie Pease Gutmann (1876 - 1960 ) was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She was one of the leading women illustrators of the day with her genre being most well known and loved for her depiction of putti's , infants and young children. Bessie had three children and mainly used them for her models. Her hand colored work was featured in many magazine covers, children's books.and made into prints and postcards. This original 1907 card is one of my favorite works of hers! Working in a school where there are many blind children, it just pulls at my heart strings and rings so true! This card was published by Gutmann and Gutmann , New York where she worked and latter married one of the brothers. This nostalgic unused card is in mint condition. May this image fill your heart with warmth and understanding for those souls carrying any added burdens, for they can truly bring a bright light into your life!
