I am thrilled to be able to share such an amazing piece of Folk Art,Black Americana and Tobacciana all rolled into one.The artistic and useful merit of this hand carved tobacco box is a folk art collectors dream. Two full figure men have been hand carved with detail from their top hats to the tip of their shoes. One has a walking cane that swings back and forth along with the arm and has an even all over patina to him.The other gent is holding a pipe and has a a three tone color range to him .his hat has a blue tint to it as his collar, shirt and sleeves have a white wash finish. They stand upon a tongue and grove carved box that was used to hols tobacco and measures 6 1/2" wide, 2" high and 4 1/2" deep. The best part is hidden away in their top hats that can be removed and used as small smoking pipes, which I just realized a few months ago.Sadly though it's one of those too good to be true pieces for it comes with a few issues. One arm has been lost over time, one pipe appears to be loosing it's tip and the elderly gents hat has a chip in it.The entire pieces stands a proud 12 1/2" tall. All in all still a remarkable piece.Enjoy!
