This is a wonderful edition that embraces the history of the theatre, circus life, tricks of modern magicians( up until 1886) and the growth of negro minstrelsy just to mention a few of it's secrets revealed.Written by John J. Jennings(1853-1909) and was published by The Globe publishing Company ,Chicago. The contents are amazing,44 chapters,608 pages are filled with history of early performers and stage life, hundreds of black and white illustrations and 8 beautifully colored plates.Housed in a blue cloth binding with silver embossed art work and titles with sub titles done in black.Overall this edition is in very good condition with only one torn page as shown in photo 8 and a hole that appears to have been hand drilled as shown in photo 6 that goes through quite a few pages but is on the inside next to binding and does not effect art or text.Binding is tight and contents clean.A real gem!
