Stylish, sturdy and simply dazzling, this pristine vintage Catholic rosary features crystal-clear glass beads with an icy-white core that shows off the broad, crisp facets. The round beads have a squarish feel making them easy to pray. All are in near-perfect condition with virtually no signs of wear, making this rosary an ideal "something old, something new" bridal gift. (Note that the blue tint in the first photograph is from the original background; the beads are clear.)
All components are heavily gilded with no tarnish or wear, raised maker's marks, and identification that the rosary was made in "France." The gilt eye pins shine brightly within the beads, and the diamond-cut chain adds overall sparkle.
At the center is a simple oval medal featuring a tender profile of Our Lady on the face. Marked "AP" for the famed French foundry, it is also signed "Bouix" along the lower right edge noting the engraver's name. I cannot find any historical information on this medalist, but the general consensus is that his or her works date from the early 1900s. On the verso is a beautiful depiction of Jesus revealing His Sacred Heart. Under magnification, you can better appreciate His Gothic-style nimbus and the vibrant rays around His heart.
The highly detailed crucifix is bold yet feminine, with arching geometric designs on the flared cross. It features a heavy-weight molded corpus with very nice details that is mounted flush with the cross. The verso is plain.
Beautiful in every way, this religious devotional is nicely sized and weighted and suitable for daily use. Its joyous sparkle would also be wonderful displayed in your sacred space. Comes boxed and ready for gift-giving.
