This long and lovely vintage Catholic rosary has elegant touches throughout that enhance its gentle beauty. The pale pink glass beads are double-capped with o-rings for a finished look and protection against chipping, which is common with oblong beads. All are sparkling and delightfully clear, all original and in excellent condition.
The glowing beads are complemented by silvered brass components that retain most of their plating. The rectangular center features a pensive profile of Mary with a Mona Lisa-like expression and a graceful hand gently touching her throat. In addition to being marked "AP" for the famed French foundry, the engraver's name can be found along the lower left edge. Unfortunately I cannot read it but perhaps you can. On the verso is a crisp, clear and beautifully detailed depiction of Jesus and His Sacred Heart. "France" is noted near the bottom with Christ's robes.
I find the crucifix on this religious treasure particularly beautiful and uncommon. The Art Deco aesthetic is especially strong, creating a dramatic contrast with the softly colored beads. A heavyweight molded corpus adds the finishing touch to the striking design. Patina is dark on the back and moderate throughout the rosary.
In excellent vintage condition, this special rosary is more than just a pretty devotional and is suitable for active prayer. Comes boxed and ready for gift-giving.
