This beautifully executed pin commemorates a Flemish pilgrimage to the Lourdes Shrine between 1919 and 1930, based on the dating of similar pins I have seen. Most prominent is the bronze figural relief of the Blessed Mother at the center. She appears to have been gilded at one time; the wear to the gilding is primarily along the sides of her robes.
The deep blue and white porcelain enamel are in superb vintage condition with no chips or crazing. Rising through the enamel are the words "Vlaanderens Bedevaart Lourdes" which translate to "Flemish Pilgrimage Lourdes." Also within the blue cuff are two lovely Maltese crosses.
The verso contains the name and address of the company in Brussels that made the pin. It is so nicely done I'm not surprised they stamped it with their name. The pin is firmly attached and works perfectly.
This beautiful piece of memorabilia is in excellent condition and is ready to wear give as a gift. If you've never been to Lourdes, perhaps this pin can convey the wonderful healing energy of one of Our Lady's special places on earth.
