Catholic chaplets can be rather small, so it’s always nice to come across one whose beads are large and comfortable enough for hands of all sizes. This sparkling chaplet of St. Anne, mother of Mary, features brilliantly-colored bi-cone glass beads with crisp facets and no significant wear. They are mounted on silvered brass pins with traces of silver remaining for added sparkle.
As you can see from the medals, this vintage devotional is a remembrance from a pilgrimage to St. Anne de Beaupre near Montreal, Canada. The large center medal has a lovely portrait of St. Anne and Mary surrounded by an ornate cuff. On the verso is a beautifully detailed depiction of the basilica with sweet flowers beneath it.
The round hanging medal seems disproportionately small compared to the beads and center, yet it is equally beautiful in its own way. It too features a lovely portrait of mother and daughter with a basilica verso. Both medals are silver plated (tested) brass whose moderate devotional wear creates a lovely contrast between the metals.
Chaplets are sometimes incorrectly described as small rosaries or bracelets. Increasingly popular as devotionals and collectibles, they are in fact Catholic prayer beads that honor and initiate devotions to Jesus, Mary and particular Holy Persons. Each chaplet has its own configuration and recitations, although some chaplets may be prayed differently depending on your intention.
This bold beauty is ready for action and seeking a prayerful new home. Comes boxed and ready for gift-giving with complete prayer instructions.
