A beautifully done love token on a 1884 Seated Liberty silver dime that is quite unusual in that it has been skillfully shaped and formed like a china plate. The center is flat and the edge is raised like the lip of a fine bone china plate. In the center is a well done engraving of a bird in flight with a large eye and grasses on the ground beneath him. GRANDMA is engraved in precise fancy lettering on the top of the rim of the plate and there is decorative engraving on the bottom of the rim. There is another engraved around the very edge of the plate/token. There is an attached bail at the top as well as a hanging bail. The back of the coin interestingly does not show that the coin has been shaped as a plate with the raised edge and seems to lie flat. The coin tests positive for silver. The love token weighs 1.9 grams and measures just short of 3/4" in diameter but is over 11/16".
