A European silverplate heart slide locket with ornate repousse decoration surrounding a central angel. The heart measure 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/2" long, not including the bail. It is marked on the front with three hallmarks, which are shown in the photos. I have been unable to identify them easily, but see that they are consistent with silver plate hallmarks. The repousse design includes wreaths, swags and flowers. There are also bells of the type seen in wood inlay furniture. In the center of the decoration is an angle bust on a pedestal with wings outstretched. Above the angel in the center ot the wreath is a basket overflowing with a large flower arrangement. Across the top of the heart above the decoration are forget-me-nots with stylized leaves. The front slides open on a swivel double bail and this reveals an inner compartment with straight sides that could hold a large keepsake of any type. There is a slight amount of wear to the plate, mostly around the edge of the back of the heart and that are not easily noticed. The locket closes tightly. It weighs 12.4 grams.
