This sterling cigarette case was given as a gift to the previous owner in 1940. I believe it was given to him before he went to war. The case is heavily engraved back and front. It is curved to be comfortable in a pocket. It is monogrammed SE.
The inside appears to have a faint gold wash. It retains both of its original elastics for holding the cigarettes in place.
It is engraved: From the staff of B. Hyam Ltd.; May 1940.
MARKS: Anchor, lion, D. Birmingham sterling hallmark, 1928.
CONDITION: Vintage Excellent! The elastics are still stretchy. A bit of tarnish. Clasp is tight. A small amount of opening along the sides.
MEASUREMENTS: About 4 inches x 3 ¼. 145g.
