This antique Victorian brass plated hand was meant to be used as a letter or bill clip. This hand features an elaborate lace cuff. Originally these clip rested on a desk or table to hold letters or bills. Nowadays, these are wonderful to hang on the wall to display your vintage handbags, hankie collection or linen towels.Victorians loved hands. They designed many other items with hands as a theme, including hand vases and jewelry. This is brass plated light-weight metal, probably tin. There are no maker's marks. The condition is excellent. The spring is tight.
This had dates to c. 1880. It measures about 5 3/8 inches long x 2 ½ wide.
