Offered is an early, 17 inch, plump-faced French bisque poupee with the store label of the luxurious Parisian shop of Simonne.
She has a perfect bisque shoulder head that is unmarked without damage or restoration. Her very plump face, pale complexion, cobalt eyes and delicate painting is indicative of an early production date circa 1870's. She wears a skin wig over a cork pate. Her kid poupee body with gusset jointing at hips, knees and elbows and separated fingers bears the Simonne stamp on the torso. The body is in good condition with some age darkening overall and darkening of kid hands and two fingers with a tear on the seams (can be glued back together). Someone cleverly made her lace gloves to cover the age wear on her fingers.
She wears antique undies, antique socks, Huret type slippers, and a two-piece enfantine style dress. The jacket is currently held together with straight pins but you could add buttons and a little soutache trim to fancy it up even more. Her little lace blue hat is newer.
A lovely early doll with a fabulous face.
