Offered is an early wigged 16" China representing a young lady of the 1850's. She has a great early face with the tiny upturned nose and wearing a fabulous braided wig.
Her porcelain shoulder head is in perfect condition with damage or restoration and features a deep sloping shoulder plate, slightly pink tinted coloring, blue painted eyes and a very happy smiling expression. She has a few tiny dark kiln spots as is often the case with the antique heads. The head alone measures 4.5" x 3.75".
She is on an antique cloth body with antique porcelain lower limbs that include nicely sculpted spoon hands and flat heeled boots. The sawdust stuffed body is in very good condition without sawdust leakage. The upper arms have been recovered in muslim and are also sturdy and without problems.
She wears two layers of antique undies, an antique wool challis skirt and an antique blouse. Her hat is vintage and uses old flowers and is perfect for her period clothing of circa the 1850's which is when this earlier head would also date.
