Offered on behalf of the Wood collection is this lovely, all-original, and in excellent condition, key wind automata with a French bisque girl on cart being pulled by a large white rabbit.
Measuring 15" long from the back of the cart to the tip of the rabbit's nose, the fur rabbit is in amazingly preserved condition even retaining its original silk ribbon and ribbon pull ties. It has glass eyes, silk velvet covered ears and a papier mache face. The little girl is a French bisque doll made by Unis France and wears her original costume with matching bonnet, matching undies, mohair wig and antique shoes and socks. Her bisque head is perfect without damage or restoration and features set eyes and an open mouth with molded teeth. Her French composition body has some surface flaking at the back of the torso and hands, common to these later dolls. She sits on a brass colored metal cart with red metal wheels. The metal wheels have some bending (could be straightened) and one wheel is missing a piece of its leather wheel cover.
An elegant, rare toy in wonderfully preserved condition.
