Offered for your collection is this very charming and unusual German China Child doll with a very short neck, round apple colored cheeks, an elaborate 1880's do, and with her original lower limbs.
Standing 16" tall, her perfect glazed porcelain head measures 4.5" tall, and 3.25" across. She has no damage or restoration and is beautifully colored and painted. Her only factory flaw is a tiny curved end on the back of shoulder plate which at first I assumed was a chip but it is covered in glaze so it was in the making. Her lower bisque arms and legs are original to her with blue painted ribbons, green sock line, and brown glazed shoes. One leg has a 1/2" manufacturing crack at the very top pictured for you. Her eyes are blue and a sweetheart mouth. There is no wear in the painting only a small amount of wear on back of head.
Her original sawdust stuffed body had rotted through and she now has an appropriate wool cotton stuffed muslin cloth body and her original limbs were reattached. There is one patch to one leg. She wears a cotton pantaloons and a darling blue print cotton young girl's dress made entirely of antique fabric. She is a real darling and not often found doll.
