Trolley systems, muni railways, bus and cable car lines and so on were among those in the late 1800's to mid 1900's to use tokens as "legal tender." These transit coins, typically good for one ride's fare, are now collected for their novelty, design and decorative beauty or local souvenir status. This lot of five comes from:
Honolulu (Hawaii) dated 1924 -- rare; Oakland (California) dated 1945; Los Angeles (California) two types; San Francisco (California) -- the municipal railway included the cable car lines.
Condition is very good circulated.
Multiple lots are available. Inquire for additional discount on purchase of multiple lots and combined shipping cost savings. Please see our other listings of other tokens and cities. And for a list of many other transit tokens not yet listed, please send us a request using the "Email shop" button.
