US Navy WWII Ships Photo PortfolioUS Navy WWII Ships Photo PortfolioUS Navy WWII Ships Photo PortfolioUS Navy WWII Ships Photo PortfolioUS Navy WWII Ships Photo PortfolioUS Navy WWII Ships Photo Portfolio

Photo portfolio of 32 U.S. Navy world war two ships. The collection includes a full range of ships including battleships (7), aircraft carriers (2), submarines (3), destroyers, heavy and light cruisers, PT boats and more. Black and white on medium weight, semi-gloss finish stock. More than suitable for display, framing, album presentation, reproduction in a slide show, etc. On the original envelope it states, “Reproduced from the official U.S. Navy photographs.” Published by Plane Facts Co. New York, NY. Dimensions: 5.25 inches by 8.125 inches.
Condition of the photo prints is excellent to mint. The original envelope has considerable wear but is intact.
The portfolio is from the estate of a WWII Navy veteran who served on the USS Mervine, DD489, in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. He acquired it for his newlywed wife in 1944.
You will find ample documentation for these “boats” through various sites. Example: One of the photos we present to illustrate what is in the collection – the USS Atlanta, CL-51 – according to Wikipedia: “Designed to provide anti-aircraft protection for US naval task groups, Atlanta served in this capacity in the naval battles Midway and the Eastern Solomons. Atlanta was heavily damaged by Japanese and friendly gunfire in a night surface action on 13 November 1942 during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. The cruiser was sunk on her captain's orders in the afternoon of the same day.” Others, including Nautilus SS-168 and Enterprise CV-6, are among the Navy’s most celebrated ships, at the time being state-of-the-art.
Some of the ships pictured served well beyond WWII. Example: USS Nicholas DD-449 served in Korea and Vietnam, earning 16 battle stars until decommissioned in 1970.

We find this to be an exceptionally fine collection of US Naval photo memorabilia. Vintage black and white 5 by 7 photos of naval warships typically sell for $5-$20 each.

More photos gladly and questions always welcome.

Shipping is via USPS First Class; insurance is optional.
