Roseville Donatello six inch hanging basket. This is the only piece of Donatello classified as “rare” by American art pottery scholars and collectors. Condition is excellent. One owner – from an estate whose owner purchased the piece in the early 20th century. It was suspended using split, cured and woven rawhide; we have left that intact, but it could be easily removed (suitable to hang as-is). The 6-inch hanging basket turns up for sale on odd occasions, but is generally very hard to find. No marks, as the bottom was not conducive to imprinting or inscribing; may have originally had a sticker label. Condition: One small glaze flake interior bottom; large chip at site of one hanger hole (does not seem to compromise the piece's integrity at all; body is sound when tapped).
