These little "charmers" may have come from a merry-go-round style toy or from a carousel, as each critter is equipped with a loop hook on his back for suspending. They are wooden, hand carved and painted. Our diminutive menagerie includes an elephant, camel, zebra and a most engaging Bengal tiger. Their condition is "well loved," particularly the zebra, which has lost considerable paint decor. Elephant has a couple of chipped spots, but is otherwise impressive (tail, trunk and tusks are intact; his blanket is especially fun). Camel is fine; nicely accented mouth and eyes. BUT Mr. Tiger is imposing with his large head, lively stripes and animated expression. We think this is a delightful find for the miniaturist, circus, toy or animal collector. We speculate, based on the estate owner from whom we acquired the collection, that they are 1930s - 1940s. They are 1 1/2 to 2 inches long and about 1 1/2 inches tall.
