Exceptional, antique 3 color Hardstone Cameo Brooch dating to the late 19th Century, circa: 1875. The antique Cameo Pin / Brooch is mounted in 14K Gold and the carved Cameo accented by a beautiful border of Pearls. The profile Cameo Portrait is beautifully carved young woman with remarkable detail in her hair. The Profile is white against a brown background and, in her hair and shoulder are rust colored Roses and Leaves. All cut from the same stone. The layering of the cutting gives the appearance of three colors. Very fine and beautiful Cameo and frame. Measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/8". On the reverse side of the gold frame is a period script engraving which possibly reads: 'M.A.Crall'?? Note that most 19th Century jewelry is not marked with the carat, therefore this item was assayed to determine its carat at 14K. Is in very beautiful, very fine condition. Note that the clasp was changed to a safety clasp at some time in the last century. The Victorian Hard Stone Cameo Brooch is beautiful and much prettier and more detailed in person than the photos show. Note some views are picking up reflections while being photographed.
