Finely detailed antique Enamel Box, dating to the 19th Century. The Box is round with a white background, with a tremendous painted scenic lid of a village scene, much in the style of the 16th Century painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder and a flowers along the sides and bottom. In the scene, are Villagers dancing to music from a musician atop a barrel playing the Bagpipe (?). Others watch the dancing couple. Possibly a peasant Wedding scene?? The house on the right side has a large flag and smoke rising from the chimney. Lush trees and gorgeous sky. Beautifully composed in the round format. The antique Box is large and an important size for this type of piece, measuring 5 1/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" high. Note old repairs made around the edges of the base; in otherwise fine condition. Is a beautiful antique Box and shows well in the photos. Prettier and more detailed in person!
