Beautiful vintage Art Deco French Bull Dog Ashtray, dating to the early 20th Century. The Ashtray is Carnelian with a beautifully carved Banded Agate French Bulldog at one end. The vintage carved banded Agate Dog was carved using variations in the natural stone to best describe the form and personality of a French Bull Dog. The multi colored stripes of the Agate are white, black, red-orange and grays. The Dogs head is more translucent and is expertly carved, including the distinctive large ears of a French Bull Dog and the wonderful detail of the Dog's collar. White the ears have chips and missing front paws, the Dog is brilliant and effective. The red-orange color in the Banded Agate Dog is beautifully complimentary to the large carved Carnelian Ashtray. It has beautiful smooth carved bowl and shiny finish. Natural inclusions in the translucent stone and some surface scratches upon close inspection. It's a gorgeous and very large piece of Carnelian with an unusual elongated shape. The vintage Carnelian Ashtray measures 5 3/4" inches x 2 3/4" inches and measures 3 1/4" inches to the top of the French Bull Dogs ears. Lovely piece. The Art Deco Ashtray stands well on it's own as a gorgeous object. Can also be used to hold jewelry, keys, coins, paperclips and business cards. It shows exceptionally well in the photos and just as wonderful in person. The photos were taken with and without a camera flash. Is a fabulous carved stone Animal Figurine piece and a wonderful example of vintage Art Deco smoking item.
