Remarkable antique miniature Violin with remarkably realistic, dating to the 19th Century. The Violin is Continental Solid Silver with touchmarks / hallmarks on the reverse side of the neck (too small to make out even under high magnification). The front side of the miniature antique Solid Silver Violin is complete with 'f' holes, three silver strings (the fourth string is missing), bridge, graceful neck and tuning peg box. A ribbed design borders the violin and there is an embossed design in the center. The reverse is equally as fabulous with a fantastical finely detailed, embossed village scene, The scene depicts buildings in the foreground and background across the water, two figures and a wonderful horse climbing the rocks. The scene is perfectly designed and scale into the space, along with an embossed scalloped design bordering the back of the Violin. This is truly a piece of exceptional workmanship. It measures just 3 1/2" long and approximately 1" wide (at its widest point). It weighs approximately 24.3 grams and is in good condition. There is oxidation in areas, including under the strings. Missing as noted, the fourth string as well as a tuning peg. The photos were taken with and without a camera flash. This antique 19th century musical instrument shows very well in the photographs and of course, best in person. It is truly an exceptional and fine piece.
