Stunning and very fine antique Miniature Portrait Brooch & Hair Locket, depicting the finely detailed portrait of a finely dressed, quaffed Lady with a jeweled Necklace and quaffed hair. Her outfit is a lovely blue with an elegant draped white collar of a fine fabric, finished with a tied bow. The portrait itself is beautifully painted....clearly the artist was well trained to capture not only the likeness but a thorough understanding of cool and warm temperatures, darks and lights. Is reminiscent of Gainsborough portraits near the end of the previous century. The Miniature Portrait Brooch dates to the early 19th Century, Georgian or just on the cusp of the early Victorian period. The Portrait is beautifully framed in a 10K Gold mounting which was assayed to determine the carat at 10K Gold. On the reverse side is a Hair Locket, with the hair no longer inside. Black fabric is behind the glass and glass covers the painted Portrait on the front. The frame is decorated with an engraved motif on the top, bottom and two sides and retains it's C-Clasp. The antique Gold Frame has slight dings at the top and bottom, though given the age and fragile nature of these pieces (Portrait and Frame) it is in very good condition. The overall size measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/4". The antique Brooch / Locket / Portrait Miniature shows very well in the photographs and just as pretty in person. Photographs were taken with and without a camera flash and are picking up bright and dark reflections of the room while being photographed.
