This is a great classic hard cover book "THE SCARLET LETTER" by Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrated by George H. Houghton The Grolier Club of the City of New York 1908. This publication is dedicated by the council of the Grolier Club to the memory of Samuel Putnam Avery in recognition of his great devotion to the interests of the club. There is a hand writing towards the front of the book dated June, 1961 To Pam, on her graduation- John. Some pages are unattached from the binding in the front of the book and there are raw edges throughout the book some still attached together. On page 9 is the following: The Committee on Publications of the Grolier Club certifies that this copy of "The Scarlet Letter," a reprint of the second edition, is one of three hundred copies printed on French hand-made paper and three copies on Imperial Japanese paper in the year nineteen hundred and eight. There is a list of 13 plates and what pages they are on. There are 325 pages. Book is 7 3/4 wide by 11 1/2 long by 1 3/4 in depth. Leather binding, spine is ripped at the top. Binding needs to be restored. Great classic for your collection.
