This is a large quartersawn oak carved hat/coat rack. It is 45" wide and 33" tall. It has 6 large turned pegs to be used for hangers, and great carving all over it. The top includes a wonderful shell carved crest, the sides have very nice scroll carving, it has great egg&dart carving under the crest, and the focal point is the framed center panel (26"x18")which is a wonderfully seemingly 3 dimensional carving of a lady in her kitchen weaving. The carving, including dishes and pots on the shelf behind the lady, great raised panels on her kitchen door, and nicely carved window panes, and the details of her weaving make one feel as if you are in the kitchen also. The twin to this piece has been hanging in my home for 25 years and still has its original RJ Horner label, thus, the Horner reference. It is in great condition with no breaks, cracks, or splits. Questions are welcome on this great old oak artwork!
