Super rare mid-century modern 1960's hand made rug signed By Surrealist Carola Torres. This rare carpet was made in the workshop of Spanish surrealist Antonio Saura (1930 to 1998) in Madrid, Spain. This rug is signed and numbered 2/10. Large and heavy piece - 96in (2.5m) long x 78in (2m) wide. The rug is a cream colored background that has been decorated with abstract red and black details. The pile is very thick, lush, and in near perfect condition, having been kept in storage for many years. The backside of the rug has a tag with text "Saura Carola Torres 2/10 2'00 x 2'50" and signed below. The carpet has original brass display rings along the back that allows this wonderful piece of art to be easily hung on a wall. The condition is absolutely fabulous, only marks on the rug are likely creases left over from storage. The rug is from the estate of Frank Sr. and Nancy Porter, of Cleveland, Ohio, who were highly recognized in the art world as collectors of unique pieces. Currently parts of their legacy are on display in the Frank and Nancy Porter family room, part of the newly opened modern art wing of the world-famous Cleveland Museum of Art.
