An incredible early 1940's iconic sun and moon brooch and earrings set by William Spratling in copper and sterling silver, this set features a round copper sun conjoined with a silver star and crescent moon. It is pictured on page 57 of Morrill & Berk's 4th edition Mexican Silver book. Measuring 3 1/2" x 2". the brooch is signed Spratling silver in an elongated oval and WS in the center of a Spratling Made in Mexico circle and is in excellent condition with the exception of the locking tab not on the clasp, but it still closes effectively. In excellent estate condition, the earrings are screw backs and measure about 1 1/2" x 15/16". One is signed Spratling Silver; the other WS in the circle. Wonderful and whimsical, this is a rare set by Mexico's Silver Gringo.
