Circa early 1940's, this beautifully sculpted sterling silver flower brooch is one of Alphonse La Paglia's earlier designs. Measuring 2" x 1 1/2", it flows in a circular pattern and has a good weight and feel. Marked on the back La Paglia Sterling on an applied cartouche, it is also signed Sterling 105 below this and closes with a secure locking clasp. A fine example of style, made in the USA. Sometimes called the American Jensen, Alphonse La Paglia designed for Jensen USA in the thirties and later worked independently in the 1940's, eventually working for International Silver Co. His work exemplifies high quality , love of nature and deco design.
