With incredible turquoise & white enamelling, this early Norway Solje brooch is reminiscent of jewelry by Marius Hammer. In a festoon style with lacing filigree and three pieces on chains, this solje measures 1 3/8" wide x 2". In very good condition for its age, there is a tiny chip in the white enamel center of the brooch portion which can only be seen when magnified. The back of the brooch has a traditional "C" clasp and is signed 830 and a symbol of two conjoined ovals. Based on the heritage of historic Norway, this lovely Solje may have been worn as part of the traditional costume.
