Artfully constructed with the clasp on the side of the necklace, this Lillian Pines sterling silver choker style necklace consists of five sterling silver scallop shells joined with a ring and has a distinctive arts and crafts style. Measuring 15" in length, with each shell 1 1/4" wide and tall, this choker is signed with a double striked signature Lillian Pines Sterling on a rectangle. In very good condition, the top of the end scallop shell has an additional bar added to the back; I do not know if this is an old repair or part of the original design. A contemporary of Mary Gage, Lillian Pines had a studio in New York City at the turn of the century. Her designs were influenced by Mary Gage and also influenced Mary Gage. The work of both designers is scarce and greatly desirable.
