Made exclusively for the Moore McCormack cruise lines that sailed through South America. The pattern is 'Rio Seascape' and has gray-blue background of a stylized view of Rio de Janeiro as it might have appeared from a ship. A bright bleeding heart flower is the focal design on the cup. Made of heavy vitrified china by Sterling China of East Liverpool, Ohio, USA. It is in excellent condition and the cup measures approximately 2 1/4" tall with a 2 3/8" mouth and the saucer approximately 4 3/4" across. The Moore-McCormack Lines operated between 1913 and 1982 primarily between the Eastern US and South America, however, they had a very interesting career during both World War I and World War II and the years in between.
