Vintage 1960s Yellow Daisy Caro-Nan wooden handbag. Wooden painted box purse that feature daisy in shades of yellow with a bee on the from and back. I chuckle and say it reminds me of the same daises on the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon show. It features the classic red floral print padded cotton lining. It is signed on the inside lid on the bottom right and the department store name is in the upper left corner. This purse has a mirror attached to the lid which is unusual by requested by the buyer for Halle Bros., it is signed by Caro-Nan and also with the store's name where the purse was sold, 'Halle Bros', and old Cleveland upscale department store.
Caro-Nan purses were made by Carolyn McDaniel and Nancy Steele housewives from Jackson Mississippi during the late 1950s to the mid 1970s. As the handbag's popularity spread, they custom-made them for boutiques around the country. They are hand made, painted, or decoupaged.
This purse is in good condition but has a few nicks, pictured, that can be touched up and a little discoloration on the metal handle and latch. The lining is in excellent condition with no odor. It measures approximately 8 1/2" X 5" X 5 3/4".
