Antarctica Base Esperanza souvenirs
A treasure from the end of the world, or about as far south as you can go on the inhabited globe. Two boxed porcelain pin dishes from Base Esperanza, 'Hope Base', a permanent, all year-round Argentine research station in Hope Bay, Trinity Peninsula, Graham Land, Antarctic Peninsula. It is one of only two civilian settlements on Antarctica. Pretty rare pieces. Excellent condition in original boxes measuring approximately 3 1/2" X 3 1/2". Never used. The motto on the dishes in the gold banner reads, 'Permanencia, un acto de sacrificio' - 'Permanence, an act of sacrifice'. Buy one or buy both, price is per dish, they are exactly alike.
