Made by Trifari this is a wonderful free form costume jewelry pin enameled in black with rhinestones. The simple but striking three dimensional design has a gold tone metal, but all you can see are the shiny edges. The pin has the feel of foliage or a stylized heart, with a long black colored piece curving up, and another rhinestone encrusted piece curling down.
Aside from classic and perfectly executed designs, part of the reason that Trifari jewelry is so collectible and has held up so well over time is that in the 1940s the firm patented their process for gold and silver plating. Calling this process Trifanium, the plating contained eight times more gold and silver than was the industry standard, and this set them apart from any other jewelry manufacturer. This is why Trifari jewelry looks “real” and lasts so long.
A larger size, it measures 1 1/2 inches wide, 3 3/8 inches tall and 1/2 inch thick.
The pin is in good vintage condition. There are no chips to the enamel.
The pin is signed Trifari.
