A great Art Deco period vase, circa 1920/1930's which was hand made and glazed by Louis Dage. Louis Dage, produced work between 1885 and 1963. The vase has black, yellow and green glazing, with great glaze drips. All of his work was signed by him, as is this piece. In 1924, Louis Dage wins the famous « Meilleur ouvrier de France » award (best artistic potter). He is also known as one of the best Art Deco potters in history. In the 1930’s his pottery was so popular it sold in the gift shop aboard the French ocean liner, Le Normandie.
The vase is large, with a bulbous bottom and a slender neck. It is approximately 12.75" tall by 8" wide. The bulbs bottom part is 6.75" tall and the neck 6". It is in very good antique condition with no damage or repairs. There a tiny fleck of missing glaze on the inside rim of the mouth of the piece. A great piece of history and yet modern enough to compliment our modern homes!
