An impressive Retro period, circa 1940/1950 handmade ring. Composed in 14k yellow gold setting which the ring features a large citrine stone. The use of such a large citrine stone was typical of the Hollywood Regency style, which became popular during the Retro. This era was a showy period of wealth and style, celebrities and socialites adorned themselves with glamorous jewelry, usually featuring large and beautiful stones.
The focal point of this gorgeous ring is the huge citrine stone that sits at the center of the prong basket setting in 14k yellowgold. The citrine is a pale semi-translucent warm yellow hue. The classic emerald cut stone sparkles and reflects the light as it filters through the body of the stone. The basket setting raises the stone just under half an inch off the finger when the ring is worn. The citrine stone measures 27.87 carats!
The ring setting, is clean and simple yet is extremely heavy in gold metal content. The highly polished gold basket setting adds reflections of light into the stone, adding to the illumination of this gorgeous stone and seems to suspend it in the air. The generous amount of gold in the band allows a secure fit and comfort. Ring is a sizable 5-3/4. Marked "14K" on the inside of the band.
