A substantial mid century modernist necklace. Piece bears bold hand hammered concave square sterling silver panels linked from the back with silver rings allowing free flowing movement. The hand hammering gives it texture and form. At the focal point there are three slightly larger and more concave squares with more pronounced rounded edges. Each square houses four oval bezel set semi precious gem stones; I believe them to be; coral, onyx, chrysoprase and amethyst. The necklace closes firmly with a box and tongue clasp. There is a hallmark stamped on the clasp but impossible to read, however piece was tested for sterling silver. When closed the necklace is approximately 18" (45.7cm). The three central panels are 1-5/16 (34mm) square and the remaining panels are 1" square. Each oval gem stone is 5/16" ( 9mm) in length. A truly eye-catching adornment that looks great against the skin!
