Beautiful hand engraved claret jug circa 1880-1890. This jug is in great condition and is ready for use. A truly wonderful late Victorian silver plate claret jug. Lid spout and handle mounted onto beautiful tapering cut crystal frosted to clear. Beautifully engraved. Metal spout and handle are elaborately carved and nice cut work surround the lid and sides. Mounted on the hinged lid is a seated lion. Tallest part of the jug is at the handle measuring 12.5", just under 320 mm. To the top of the lion it is 12.25". The base is 3.5/8" across or 92mm and the top lid is 2" or 51mm. I can find no markings on the piece. Piece is in very good antique condition with no silver loss to note except for two small spots inside the pouring spout and tiny are over the lions eyes. Piece is late Victorian circa 1880/1890. I have not cleaned the jug so you may note some areas that need surface cleaning.
