Lovely late Victorian period sterling silver perfume bottle. The body the container is engraved a floral and leaf pattern on both sides. Piece was gilt at one time as faint remnants can still be seen. One can see more of it on the interior lid and lip. Perfume bottle has its original stopper. Piece stands 2-1/4" tall (5.5 cm) with a 3" circumference or 7/8" (2 cm) bottom width. The lid of the bottle has a nice period monogram: A & G 1887. Made in Birmingham England, it bears the Birmingham duty marks anchor and lion and the production date stamp: "M" for the year 1886 . The makers marks are also present: D& L S for David and Lionel Spiers. Finally the bust of Queen Victoria appears. This duty mark was used between 1838 to1890. In great antique condition with some surface scratching from age and use with loss of gilding. No repairs and lid closes firmly. Stopper had a small nick out of the bottom but it cannot be seen when in place. A lovely piece to be given as a gift or to add to a collection,
