Fabulous large and rare, (at last I have never seen one like it!) vintage Aztec enamel over sterling silver mask pendant. Made in Mexico piece is a hand wrought sterling silver with an applied mosaic of enamel pieces in black, blues, browns and green. The masked face is in blue and black and the head dress makes up the balance of the colors browns and green with black background. This is a signed pendant, but it is hard to decipher. The hallmark says Mexico, part of "Mexico" is erased by opening mouth of mask. Above that are three initials HOB or NOB, I believe. No other marks are found but piece tests for sterling. The condition is excellent vintage including the enameling. The measurements are 4" (10cm), with bale, 3.25" (8cm) without , by 2-1/4" (5.5cm) wide. It is possible that an additional bale was added at a later date to facilitate a silver chain, but I am not certain of this.
